The holiday season is a time when we return to the warmth of home, family rituals, and details that create a special atmosphere. This year, at hdizajn we are opening a new chapter by presenting our first collection of ceramic Christmas ornaments — handmade and inspired by rich Croatian tradition.

After years of creating art posters and illustrations, it felt natural to extend our aesthetics and motifs to something more lasting and tactile — objects that are cherished, passed on, and brought out every year to decorate the Christmas tree.

Ceramics is a material that radiates warmth and durability. Once shaped, fired and glazed, it becomes solid, long-lasting, and ready for generations of use. That is exactly why we chose it for our first holiday ornaments. We wanted to create pieces that are not just seasonal trends, but a small part of family tradition.

Motifs deeply rooted in Croatian heritage

Our first collection includes three animal motifs that have been present in folk art for centuries. The peacock — a symbol of beauty, prosperity and pride — often featured in traditional embroidery and the wooden toys of Hrvatsko Zagorje. The horse — representing strength, protection and endurance — one of the most striking motifs of Croatian heritage. The rabbit — bringing gentleness, calm and the warmth of home.

All ornaments are made of white ceramic and decorated with hand-painted red details that echo the aesthetics of traditional Croatian embroidery. To ensure authenticity and quality, each ornament goes through a multi-stage handmade process, without industrial production. This means that every piece is unique, with subtle variations that make handcrafted work special.

Our vision was to create ornaments that will be cherished, packed away after the holidays, and lovingly brought out year after year. Those small objects that, over time, become part of family tradition — more precious with every winter. Ceramics is perfect for that.

A new chapter has begun

These ceramic ornaments are not just a new product — they mark the beginning of the ceramic chapter of hdizajn. After art posters, ceramics has allowed us to bring our motifs and visual style into objects that can be held, that have texture and weight… and that can become part of someone’s holiday tradition or gifting ritual.
